Week 2 Reflection

Week 2 Reflection:

Week 2 Reflection

Group reflection:

Some things we have done this week:

  • We made our own lines of inquiries
  • We formed our own questions
  • We tuned in into our first line of inquiry by watching videos
  • We made our own essential agreements
  • We met our mentor, Ms Lowe, the librarian
  • We collected interesting/essential newspapers about our issue
  • We brainstormed innovative ways of taking action
  • We talked to Paul Melson about air, marine and light pollution and a bit on global warming

Paul Melson:

We had a talk with him about air, marine and light pollution. We have found out some information, good trips to go to & good government officials to interview. We have found this interview quite helpful and useful

Group Meeting with Mrs. Lowe:

We had our first group and mentor meeting on Friday. We talked about our work so far and what needs to be finish. One of the key points was not to do research yet since we are not completely sure of our lines of inquiry.
Some things that needs to be finish are:
  • Think of some places to go to
  • Think of what action we can take
  • Finalize our lines of inquiry
  • Know what we are researching

Our Essential Agreement:

We formulated our agreement by thinking how we want to work through these 9 weeks. We also thought about our class essential agreement. We got a few points from our class essential agreement because we thought that it was important. This will help our Exhibition process because we know what is expected and not expected. Whenever a group member is not following the essential agreement we would tell him or her so they know.

Week 1 Reflection

Week 1 Reflection

Group Reflection:

For the last few weeks we all have been wanting to do something about the environment for our Exhibition. Then in the end we got chosen into the Environment Group since we all wanted to learn about different aspects of the environment. Janice wanted to learn about deforestation and light pollution, Antonio wanted to learn about marine animals and marine pollution. Hogan wanted to learn about air pollution and global warming and Jaime wanted to learn about global warming and noise pollution. We were very happy since we got the topic we wanted.

We have spoke to Ms. Chung about our interests and some questions we want to research about. In the end of our meeting, we have decided on researching about the different types of pollution and the impact on global warming. We have also decided on researching about how to reduce global warming. We are planning to go on some trips. Here are some questions we want to research on:

1) What causes global warming
2) What is the impact of global warming?
3) How can we help to improve the environment?

We have also spoken to our own parents and telling them basic information about our group and we have decided to do.

Some first thoughts on how we could express ourselves creatively were:
  • Make a video or animation
  • Do a dance
  • Sing a song
  • Write a formal letter to the government
After looking at a list of different presentation skills, we now have more different and creative ideas,  eg. create a children’s book, put on a play etc.

Our strengths and skills include:
  • Being flexible (the working kind of flexible)
  • Creative
  • Hard working
  • Confident
  • Determined
  • Can read and write
  • Can cooperate quite well

We found out our mentor, Ms Lowe and we thought that she would be a really good mentor since she is really knowledgeable.
